Terms of service
Last updated September 2026
These terms cover your use of Samuraize at samuraize.ai. By using the service you agree to them, and by creating an account you confirm that you have read and accepted them and our Privacy Policy - we record the version you accepted and when. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
The service
Samuraize uses AI to summarize YouTube videos, web articles, PDFs, ebooks, slide decks and text you provide, and to derive related material (translations, study notes, flashcards, quizzes, answers to questions). Summaries are generated automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or miss nuance. Always check anything important against the original source. We don’t offer professional advice of any kind.
Your content and copyright
Samuraize is a tool. It processes what you choose to give it, on your instruction, and it does not review, select or endorse that material. You are solely responsible for the content you submit - a link, a file or pasted text - and for what you do with the result. By submitting content you confirm that you own it, have permission to use it, or are otherwise legally entitled to have it summarized for your own use (for example, a public video, an article you have access to, or a document you were given), and that doing so doesn’t break any law, contract or third party’s rights.
- Don’t submit material you obtained unlawfully, material behind someone else’s paywall or login that you aren’t entitled to, or anything that is unlawful, defamatory or private to someone else.
- A summary is an aid to reading, not a replacement for the original, and is not to be redistributed as a substitute for it. Summaries are generated automatically and may be wrong; nothing in one should be treated as a statement of fact by us.
- Uploaded files are processed and not stored. For videos, articles and slide decks the extracted text is kept in your private library so you can ask questions about it and re-cut it; it is never shown to anyone else. Our AI provider declines to reproduce certain copyrighted material (such as song lyrics); when that happens the summary simply isn’t produced.
You keep whatever rights you hold in what you submit. As between you and us, the summaries produced for you are yours to use, subject to the rights of the original author, which a summary does not transfer.
Publishing to the Bento Box
Publishing a summary, a tray or a comment makes it public under your nickname. Only publish what you have the right to make public, and don’t publish anything that reproduces a substantial part of the original work. By publishing you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and share the published item (with attribution to your nickname) for as long as it stays published; unpublishing or deleting it ends that licence, apart from copies already made by others. We may remove anything published that we believe infringes rights, breaks these terms or the law, or harms the community, with or without notice.
Copyright complaints
We respect the rights of authors and creators. If you believe something published on Samuraize infringes a copyright you own or represent, email info@samuraize.ai with the subject “Copyright” and include: the address of the item on samuraize.ai; the work you say is infringed and where it can be seen; your name, address and email; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised by the rights holder, their agent or the law; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them; and your signature (typed is fine). We will remove or disable access to the item promptly and tell the member who published it, who may send a counter-notice. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed.
Indemnity
If somebody brings a claim against us because of content you submitted or published, or because of how you used the service in breach of these terms, you agree to cover the losses, costs and reasonable legal fees we incur as a result.
Accounts and plans
- You must be at least 13 and give accurate details. Keep your password safe; you’re responsible for activity on your account.
- Free accounts receive a monthly allowance of Samurai Coins once a phone number is verified, and can earn more through referrals; Premium and Maximum are subscriptions billed through Stripe monthly or yearly, each with its own monthly coin quota. What a summary or translation costs depends on the length of the source and is shown before it runs. A promotional code grants a paid plan for a fixed number of months with no card and no subscription: when it ends the account returns to the free plan and nothing is charged.
- Every plan, including Maximum, has a monthly Samurai Coin quota and a daily fair-use ceiling purely as abuse protection (the daily ceiling is far above normal human use). Automated or scripted use, sharing an account, or reselling summaries as a service is not allowed.
- Free usage is subject to fair-use and abuse-prevention limits. The free allowance is 20 Samurai Coins a month per person, not per account. To collect it we ask for a phone number and verify it by SMS: one number, one allowance. We store a one-way hash of the number rather than the number itself, use it only to tell one person from fifty accounts, and never send marketing messages to it. Creating additional accounts, using disposable email addresses, or deleting and re-creating an account to obtain further free coins is not permitted, and we may decline, limit or close accounts that do so. Referral bonuses and promotional codes are likewise once per person, and inviting yourself or accounts you control forfeits the bonus. We keep only what these checks need - a one-way hash of the email address and network, never the address itself - and only for as long as they are useful.
- Commercial use of summaries requires a Premium or Maximum plan.
Payments, cancellation and refunds
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from Settings; you keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and no further charges are made. Prices may change with notice before your next renewal. If something went wrong with a charge, email us within 14 days and we’ll make it right.
Acceptable use
Don’t try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, bypass limits or the human check, or use it to harm others. We may suspend accounts that do.
Availability and liability
We aim for the service to be available and accurate but provide it “as is”, without warranties of any kind, including that summaries are accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose. Third-party sources we read from (YouTube, websites, transcript and AI providers) can change or stop without notice. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited, and nothing in these terms affects the statutory rights of consumers where they apply.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and may end or change the service with reasonable notice; if we shut a paid feature down we’ll refund the unused part of your period.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change materially we update the date above and, for signed-in members, say so in the app. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance of the new terms; if you don’t accept them, delete your account.
